How Sharps are Betting Tuesday’s Yankees/Dodgers Game 4
Plus a Look at Tuesday’s 3 College Football Matchups
Well, this is going much more quickly than expected. The Los Angeles Dodgers have raced out to a 3-0 series lead on the New York Yankees in the 2024 World Series. Surprisingly, it’s been a pitching series…with the Broken Bombers only able to muster two runs per game (in regulation) so far. Dodgers one win away from a parade. Yanks must sweep four against the most potent attack in baseball.
First, a quick review from Monday night’s G3…
*The Los Angeles Dodgers (+130) won at the New York Yankees 4-2. Yankees actually won Total Bases Plus Walks 15-14 thanks to 5 in the bottom of the ninth when trailing 4-0. Dodgers in control most of the night. Buehler pitched 5 scoreless innings with 5K. Schmidt allowed 3 ER in 2.2 IP. Yanks cut the lead in half, but didn’t quite make it interesting with that late rally. Yanks left 8 on base, to just 7 for the Dodgers. For the series, that’s 25 for the Yankees, 15 for the Dodgers. Yanks did hit .333 with runners in scoring position (2/6). One of those was the late, meaningless homer. Dodgers 2/8. Dodgers lead the series 3-0 despite only hitting 3 of 19 with RISP. Yanks 4 of 20.
G4 Starting Pitchers
To be Determined:
Luis Gil: 4.36 xFIP, 26.8 K-percentage
Dodgers haven’t made an announcement as of publication time early Tuesday morning. It’s assumed we’re looking at a bullpen day, particularly with the luxury of a big series lead. Gil gets a lot of K’s. But, his problem has been walks and home runs. That’s the worst kind of problem to have in the playoffs! And, it’s why he hasn’t been on the mound much so far in October.
Postseason
To be Determined:
Gil: 4 IP, 2 ER , 3K, 3 BB, 0 HR vs. Cleveland
If you can only go four innings vs. the relatively week Cleveland offense (by playoff standards), the going could be tough against the Dodgers. Though, Gil will be as rested as possible…and could have a chip on his shoulder about not being used enough. Better be a big chip. Dodgers destroy walk-prone and HR-prone pitchers.
