How Sharps are Betting Twolves/Nuggets Game One (5/4)
Western Conference Second Round Starts Saturday Night
Definitely one of the most anticipated “non-championship” playoff series in quite some time. Though Oklahoma City is he #1 seed in the West, Denver is the market favorite to survive the brackets through to the NBA Final. And, Minnesota finished only one game behind the top seed out West…possessing the #1 defense in the NBA this past regular season.
Defense doesn’t always win championships. But, it sure positions you to win championships.
Maybe the survivor of this series will be too worn out to play great in the Westen Finals. And, it could turn out that Boston is so good that everyone else is just battling to be “second best.” For now, A CLASH OF THE TITANS is imminent. Let’s see how sharps (professional wagerers) have been betting Saturday’s series opener…
Minnesota at Denver (7 p.m. ET, TNT)
Opening line of Denver -5 was bet down quickly to -4.5. That tells you right there that sharps DON’T like Denver -5. If they wanted the Nuggets on a strong home court at altitude, they would have laid the points fairly quickly. Dog lovers clearly loved Minnesota +5. Wasn’t any money from sharps or the public providing relevant resistance.
Then the line fell to Denver -4! Dog lovers (and probably some sharps who aren’t necessarily dog lovers but respect defense and key box score stats) also liked Minnesota +4.5.
Once the number was at four, resistance finally started to show. Recreational bettors found a price that low irresistible. And, there were probably some quants on Denver -4 as well. Math guys know how impactful home court (or home field) can be in this state. Some quants probably made the game Denver -4.5 or -5.
Summing up sharp sentiment for the team side discussion…sharps LOVE Minnesota +5, many of them also like Minnesota +4.5. Some quants get gradings to Denver -4.
