Game Sevens are always fun to watch (and for many, to bet). But, Sunday’s Orlando/Cleveland decider might be the LEAST anticipated Game Seven ever. It’s assumed the winner will just be blowout fodder for the Boston Celtics in the next round. Markets are expecting a tight grinder. At least that could make for a compelling fourth quarter.
Let’s see how sharps (professional wagerers) are betting the last game of the opening round of the 2024 NBA playoffs. Make sure to remember this is a DAY game with an early tip-off!
Orlando at Cleveland (1 p.m. ET, ABC)
Opening line of Cleveland -4.5 was bet down quickly to -4 and -3.5. Sharps are aware that Cleveland’s star score carried an inordinate load in a losing effort Friday night. Very hard to ask the Cavs to win “easily” given an exhausted leader. Sharps loved Orlando +4.5, and still liked Orlando +4. In recent betting, the line dipped AGAIN to -3. Looks like the public doesn’t have any interest (yet) in this TV home favorite. Some recreational bettors may even be on the dog. They usually bet favorites. Sharps are probably in for all they want at +4 or better…but some might have nibbled some more at +3.5.
For now, the “sharp side” is definitely Orlando +4 or better. We’ll see if any Wise Guys start buying Cleveland at -3.
